Who is AgFin?

AgFin Services is a Wimmera-based farm business advisory dedicated to helping Australian family farmers make confident, informed decisions about their business. Our focus is on the numbers that drive your farm’s future. From cash flow management to cost of production analysis, we translate complex financial data into clear, practical strategies you can act on. Being local means we understand the realities of farming in this region – the seasons, the markets, and the challenges unique to family-owned farms.
When you work with AgFin, you deal directly with the business owner – someone with deep agribusiness, banking, and risk management experience who values personal service and long-term relationships. We combine commercial know-how with a genuine understanding of farm life, making it easier for you to see where you are, where you’re headed, and how to get there. Our goal is simple: to help you grow a stronger, more resilient farm business, one decision at a time.

Robert Barnes

Founder

I’ve always believed that good decisions start with a clear picture of the numbers – and that’s as true for a family farm as it is for a global business.
In 2012, my family and I traded city life for the Wimmera, to be closer to our own farming roots – third-generation wool growers and lamb producers. Since then, I’ve come to know this Western Victoria region and the people who make it thrive.
The decades of experience I brought with me managing financial risk for some of Australia’s biggest companies is now shared sitting with farmers around the kitchen table, helping them plan for the season ahead.
What I’ve learnt that the disciplines of sound financial management belong wherever decisions are made that shape livelihoods and futures.
For me, AgFin is about combining hard-earned financial know-how with a deep respect for farming life, so that ambitious farmers can grow stronger businesses, with less uncertainty, more control and more confidence on the road ahead.
